HOLMES ILS HOME PAGE

The HOLMES ILS home page displays eight modules encompassing all of the functions of the library staff including:

INVOICE TRACKING

This module enables library staff to stay on top of library bills. The invoice number field is programmed not to accept duplicate invoice numbers. The software sends out reminders to library staff about subscription expirations in whatever duration deemed helpful by the staff. Reports can be created and emailed to appropriate management personnel. Original invoices can be embedded in each record for easy recall.

SERIALS CHECK IN

The Serials Check in module enables the library staff to ensure that all subscriptions are current. Each issue is linked to the online catalog as well as the route list. This enables the library staff to easily find the material to be updated as well as to circulate.

MAINTAINING ROUTE LISTS

Route lists are easily managed and are linked to the serials check in module. The route ticket is a link embedded in the list and is instantly updated when the list is edited.

ONLINE CATALOG

The online catalog can be displayed for the library staff in whatever way suits the staff best. This one is displayed by practice area. The online catalog can be searched and displayed differently for attorneys as well. It is linked to the serials check in so that you can instantly see how current a title is.

ACQUISITIONS MODULE

The acquisitions module enables the library staff to manage all requests for new purchases, books ordered on a trial basis and provides a historical record for each new purchase added to the library. If a title is ordered on a trial basis, the software sends an email reminder a week before the trial has expired.

PASSWORD TRACKER

Having one module to search for all logins, passwords, access codes for all online services for library subscriptions is essential for timely and efficient searching.

REFERENCE & INTERLIBRARY LOAN TRACKER

A simple web form embedded in the firm’s intranet can facilitate ease in documenting research and interlibrary loan requests, which then becomes a searchable knowledge base. At the back end, the library staff sees who is requesting assistance, who to charge their time to, and the deadline for results. Daily reminders go to library staff if requests for research help have not been completed.

CONTRACT DOCUMENTS MODULE

Managing contract renewals is made easy by organizing contract renewals by month and embedding the original contract in the record. Monthly reports are sent to library staff so they see what contracts are coming due.
